GMIT FURNITURE DESIGNERS IN NATIONAL MUSEUM OF IRELAND EXHIBITION

Furniture design students at the Letterfrack campus of Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) will showcase a selection of their work in the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Castlebar, from Wednesday 20th June.

The exhibition entitled “….take a seat / ….lig do scνth” is the result of a collaborative project with the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life in Turlough Park, Castlebar and GMIT Letterfrack.

Twenty-seven second year design and manufacture students each designed and made a piece of seating for a specified location within the galleries of the museum. The individual pieces will be in place for one year, for public use and feedback.

The exhibition will be officially opened by the Director of GMIT, Marion Coy, and the Manager-Keeper of the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Tony Candon, on Wednesday 20th June at 6pm.
